Dana Faldasz, Lead Technician

Dana FaldaszHey everyone, I’m Dana. I’ve been with About-Face since October of 2010, although until our Avenue A shop opening on January 2011 I wasn’t doing tech work so much as building stuff for the store opening. When you come to the shop, bear in mind that I’m a much better technician than a carpenter. I’ve been doing computer tech repair ever since.

At this point, I’ve pretty much done it all—hardware, software, networking, and virus removal in both home and business settings. I consider myself a bit of a jack-of-all-trades technician; I see a challenge and I rise to it.

One of my favorite things about this job is the issues we come across. Sure, a fair amount of it is pretty rote (there are part replacements and virus variants that I could deal with in my sleep at this point), but these computer-things are so finicky that every now and then we see something come in with just the strangest of issues. It requires me to do some research on it and delve pretty deep into the system to find out what goes wrong. I’ll also take a screwdriver to just about anything that has screws.

If you care about what I do in my spare time, I like to go into the woods, where nobody can ask me to help them with a computer problem. And if they do, I can just give them a funny look, ask, “Why the heck do you have a laptop in the woods?” and walk away.
